1/2 cup chopped celery
1/4 cup sliced red onion
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 small handful white sugar
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 teaspoons white sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 pound pork sausage, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1 pound ground beef
In a large pot over medium heat, combine the celery, red onion, soy sauce, honey, corn starch, sugar, oil, 1 cup milk, yeast, salt and sugar. Stir, stirring constantly, until the honey/cornstarch mixture forms a stiff, dough.
Turn heat to low and add the vinegar, 1 cup at a time, stirring frequently until all ingredients are in the liquid form. Remove from heat and let cool until lukewarm before stirring.
In a small mixing bowl, mix the water and white vinegar mixture, then fold in the salt and pepper. Let stand a few moments to let the flavors mix, then stir into the solids until completely incorporated. Finally, remove from the pan. Let the meat cool completely before carving into 1 inch cubes.
