Gay marriage has been deemed by the Supreme Court as deeply and fundamentally wrong by the majority of its members. It is, therefore, destined to be a law of un-National, un-Healthy, Un-Culture, and Un-Family-Friendly Culture.
At the same time, more than 8 hundred organizations, advocacy groups, and organizations supporting "traditional marriage" in America have made an offer to support a constitutional amendment to the U.S. Constitution consistent with the opinion of the Supreme Court.
In response, the state legislature is proposing a constitutional amendment for the first time since 1974. It has been a long, drawn-out process, but today we are extremely pleased to present to you, the New York State marriage equality proposal.
It is time for all New York voters to recognise the great integrity and care with which the Supreme Court of New York, through Judge Robert G. Leighton, cast its vote for marriage equality. He has served on the Supreme Court of New York for over twenty years, and knows marriage properly as one of the longest and most full-scale marriages in the history of the United States.
Assemblymen Michael Frizzell and Mark Dennis of the New York State Assembly propose that the following: 1) Article XX of the Constitution of the United States of America be amended to read as follows:
"Section 1. Everyone shall enjoy the right to marry, and no state shall deny that right to any citizen; but no marriage shall be solemnised in any state, without the consent of the two partners."
2) A Constitutional Amendment to Article XI of the State Constitution be approved by two-thirds of the voters of the State Assembly.3) The New York State Marriage Amendment be tailored to the State's requirements.
To vote for:
Proceed to the Assembly floor. Set the record straight on marriage equality by writing your name down on a ballot, then removing a page from the bottom of the ballot paper.
