Julia's Pierogi Recipe


1 cup white sugar

1 tablespoon water

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 egg

1 tablespoon margarine, melted

1 pinch ground nutmeg

1 cup water

1/2 cup bread flour

1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar

1 tablespoon goat milk

1 tablespoon butter, melted

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup unsalted butter

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup raisins


Heat oil in a 9x10 inch baking dish or skillet over medium heat. In a small bowl, combine sugar, water and cream cheese. In a medium bowl, mix egg, margarine, nutmeg, vinegar and milk until smooth. Stir together and pour into pan.

Meanwhile, in large mixing bowl, pour milk, flour, 1/4 cup of the dry mixture, and fruit mixture into pan. Pour still another cup of milk over all, or drop milk by splatters. Stir in baking powder and salt. Pour mixture over fruit mixture. Stir and take another few splashes of milk. Freeze overnight.
