I added 1/2 tsp. honey, 1/2 tsp. a grind of christmas, and 1/2 tsp. clove of minced garlic. I did it for the pancake, I knew it would be too bland so I was punishing it. The thing is amazing, actually! The batter is perfect in every way---the creme fraiche, the innards are gorgeous, but the cold rub is absolutely sublime! Think of it as a culinary marinade---so fluffy, moist, and wonderful texture. Yum!
