1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup shortening
3 eggs
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 cup warm water (110 degrees F)
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Lightly grease 8-cup baking pan.
In bowl, cream together 1/2 cup flour, sugar and salt. Stir in shortening.
In large bowl, beat eggs, one at a time, until smooth. Stir in baking powder, pepper and warm water. Gradually stir into flour mixture, eventually filling the entire pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes. Cool before filling.
