1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup short-grain white rice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
1/2 teaspoon dried basil, crushed
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, crushed
1/4 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
salt and pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
In a large pot over medium heat, combine rice, water, salt, oil and paprika. Cook until rice is easily cooked, stirring occasionally. Heat vegetable oil and saute rice and rice until slightly browned. Stir in pepper, garlic, 1/2 cup of the rice, and 1/2 cup of the oil. Quickly stir in thyme, basil, and oregano and cook until all ingredients are hot. Stir in pepper flakes, salt and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
