1 pound ground beef
3/4 pound Italian sausage, casing removed
4 stalks celery, sliced
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 (16 ounce) can crushed tomatoes with juice
1 (1.5 ounce) package Italian dressing mix
1 (16 ounce) can crushed tomatoes with juice
1/2 pound shredded mozzarella cheese
In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, sausage, celery, onion and tomatoes.
Heat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spread 1/2 cup of the meat mixture onto a large baking sheet. Cook 5 minutes in the oven, stirring frequently, until evenly brown. Shape into 4 patties and serve.
Meanwhile, in a mixing bowl, stir together Italian dressing, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and crushed tomatoes with juice. Spread the mixture on the bottom of a large baking sheet. Bake 20 minutes in the oven.
Changes I made: I used Truffle blossom water, and I used twice the amount of whipped cream. I believe this changes the recipe enough to be safe for work. I tested this by putting some plain old whipped cream into a measuring cup and finding that it actually thickened up to the consistency of frosting--so much better than vanilla....I used Heath bars chopped in my spice rack, and that tends to do a nice job. Thanks for the recipe, it's a keeper.
