1 1/2 cups butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 cups milk
1 (.2 ounce) slab Italian sausage, sliced into 1/2 inch rounds
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon Italian-style seasoning
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 2 (2-quart) loaf pans.
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth; beat in eggs, one at a time. Mix in milk, 1 3/4 cup at a time, continuing until just blended. Beat in sausage and 1/8 cup flour. Reserve the first 3/4 cup of the flour. Slowly pour batter into prepared pans.
Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into center of pan comes out clean. Meanwhile, place 1 pound pastry on bottom half of pan. Cool 10 minutes before cutting into squares. Chill before serving.
