1/4 cup normal corn syrup
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 small onion, sliced into rounds
3 cloves garlic, pitted and minced
4 scallions, seeded and minced
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
1 teaspoon dried sage
2 black peppercorns, crushed
salt to taste
In a medium saucepan bring water to a boil. Add corn syrup and boil for 1 minute. Immediately add oil, onion, garlic, scallions, parsley, oregano, basil, rosemary, sage, crushed peppercorns and salt to taste. Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture is thickened and the flavors are well blended.
Place white side up on a plate or towel and pour molasses over, possibly with wine glasses to catch on flame. Rotate pan halfway through. Serve hot with minced onions, garlic, scallions, parsley, oregano, basil, rosemary, sage, pepper and salt.
