Amish Burgers Recipe

Ingredients

1 (10 inch) flour tortilla

3 slices bacon, sliced

1 green bell pepper, sliced

3 onions, sliced

1 medium head garlic, minced

1 medium onion, chopped

1 medium head cabbage, chopped

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Place tortilla in a medium bowl. Roll tortillas tightly to prevent sticking.

Place bacon in a large, heavy skillet over medium heat. Cook bacon until crisp. Remove from grease and place in skillet with green pepper and onions. Cook peppers until tender and brown; remove from heat.

In a large bowl, combine peppers, onions, mushrooms, cheese, salt, pepper and salsa. Mix well and let stand about 10 minutes to soften.

Prepare a large skillet over medium heat. Add oil and saute until tender and golden. Remove from heat and spoon into a small bowl.

Prepare the burger-loin by placing the bacon, green pepper, onion, cabbage, Worcestershire sauce and salt and pepper into a large mixing bowl. Place lettuce leaves in skillet and cut heat to just to boiling. Reduce heat to medium-low and stir in lettuce, tomatoes, meat and cheese. Pour into large hot skillet.

Bake in preheated oven until cheese is bubbly and edges are crispy, about 40 minutes. Top with lettuce, tomato sauce and meat. Bake 45 minutes more, until lettuce is tender and edges are golden and tops are crisp when cut side down.
