1 (4 ounce) can frozen mixed vegetables, thawed
1 vegetable soup mix
1 chicken, cut into 1/4 inch strips
1 green bell pepper, cut into 6 wedges
1/4 pound ground chicken
1/4 pound ground beef
1 1/2 cups water
2 cubes chicken bouillon
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon paprika
In a medium bowl, combine mixed vegetables, soup mix, chicken, green bell pepper, ground chicken, ground beef, and water. Mix together and refrigerate overnight.
Between sheets of waxed paper, lay out 1-1/2 cups of white. Place a large saucepan over medium heat and add 2 cups of water. Bring water to a boil, then pour mixture over cheese layers.
Heat 2 cups of ketchup and brown sugar in a large skillet over medium heat. Stir together then add brown sugar and ketchup until well blended. Pour into prepared casserole dish. Cover, and chill at least 1 hour before serving.
This was a great recipe. I used a skillet and eggs instead of bread, and bread crumbs instead of powdered milk. I also added dried cranberries and dried cranberries juice to the water and chicken, respectively. I also added fresh carrots, celery, onions, and chicken broth. The kids (a picky 5 and skeptical 3 yr old) loved it! I even added more chicken just because I had leftover. My only negative comment is that 1 cup of mayo is way too much. I decreased it to 1/4 cup and I think that was plenty.
