1 cup uncooked white rice

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 small onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
In a large stockpot or standing heat, bring water to a boil. Add mashed rice, salt, paprika and oil and stir for 2 minutes. Reduce heat to low, and simmer for 20 minutes.
Stir cooked rice into heated rice mixture, stirring often.
Spoon rice mixture into a large bowl. Discard leftover rice and stir in onion, garlic, oregano and salt. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Meanwhile, in a small saucepan bring water to a boil. Add diced onion and garlic and saute until garlic is soft. Remove from heat and stir in rice mixture. Stir in salt, 1/2 teaspoon paprika and 1 cup cooked rice. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
