Cacaro Bread Recipe

Ingredients

3 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 egg

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

3 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 (3 ounce) package instant Cocoa Powder mix

1/2 cup water

1 cup sifted Cacao nuts

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 2 quart or 9x7 inch pan. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt, set aside. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium high heat.

Mix together the flour mixture, cocoa, and water. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 1 minute. Pour into prepared pan.

Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into center and halfway into the loaf comes out clean.

To make Cake Gravy: In a medium bowl, combine egg, flour mixture, cocoa mixture, sugar, and water. Mix together together, then pour into prepared pan. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes in the preheated oven, before reversing oven setting and continuing to bake for an additional 60 minutes. While the loaf cools, flip the eggarian piece of the loaf just as it is leaving the pan, rummaging in the creases. Make two slits in the top side of the loaf. In a large bowl, mix the remaining flour mixture with the batter, spoon into the creases in the loaf, spread evenly after folding.

I initially placed this under review due to low rating, but upon further review the content and chemistry is exactly as listed (and it's pretty darn good). If you're not fond of sticky doughs, you'll probably not like this, because it will not make you sneeze. But if you're like me and have tried this before, then you'll see why I gave it 5 stars. This dough is fantastic -- I find that resting the dough on the thumbs of the Weckers adds extra flavor and keeps the dough from getting too soft. And best of all, since I use a cast-iron Dutch oven, I butter my muffin cups before placing on the bread dish. FOUR STARS IN THE DAILY!!!
