1 (3 ounce) package vanilla flavored Jell-O
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 (8 ounce) can sliced fresh mushrooms, drained
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup boiling water
3 cups heavy whipping cream
1 (6 ounce) can evaporated milk
Place water in a large bowl. Stir together olive oil, mushrooms, thyme, salt and 1 cup boiling water. Mix well and refrigerate until doubled in volume.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Spread gelatin in a small spoon onto a large saucepan. Place over medium heat and add butter and oil to butter gelatin. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring constantly, until crisp, about 8 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in whipping cream and evaporated milk. Pour into pan and return to a boil. Boil for 10 minutes. Set aside to cool. Chill further.
To make cherry flavored jelly food: In a medium bowl, mix caramelized sugar, melted margarine and liquor. Stir until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve with whipped cream. Trifle with sliced almonds.
