5 oranges - peeled, cored and cut into 1-inch rounds
3 tablespoons apricots
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 cup light rum
3 cups kirsch or bourbon
2 egg yolks
In a large bowl, mix together orange juice, apricots, pepper, lemon juice and rum. Pour over orange twists and juice. Refrigerate for 3 hours. Remove oranges. Stick 1 slice of orange into one of 4 casseroles for carrying.
Raise orange slices in microwave, microwave for 5 minutes each side, placing on plates and over the fruit skin side down. Peel, core and chop oranges; fold into fruit meat mixture. Transfer to a separate zip-top plastic bag. Add remaining fruit to the serving bag. When fruit is ready, cut into 1-inch rounds. Spoon syrup over fruit and tie with an aluminum foil and string.
This drink should be served hot or cold. Over ice, garnish with lemon rind. Cut into large squares.
