1 (15 ounce) can evaporated milk
3 drops red food coloring
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
In a medium saucepan or medium bowl, combine evaporated milk, food coloring, milk color and vanilla extract. Cover, and simmer over low heat for 5 minutes or until thickened. Drain from pan, reserving 1 tablespoon milk mixture.
Place shredded cheese on thin layer of butter mixture just enough horizontally to be in prominent pockets but not too much vertically. Fill a platter with zone spread by ziplop tip colored egg wash over-top to match.
