Calico Pork Ribs Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup water

2 teaspoons baking soda

1 cup cabbage

1 cup chopped onion

1 (16 ounce) can maraschino cherries

1 (4 ounce) can tomato juice

1/4 cup cold water

1 cup white sugar

1 (8 ounce) can pineapple juice concentrate

2 egg whites

1 pinch salt

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon kosher salt

Directions

Place water, baking soda, cabbage and onion into a small saucepan with a little bit of lemon juice to cover. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in tomato juice and maraschino cherries. Bring to a full boil for about 5 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-high and simmer for 10 minutes.

Stir 1/2 the egg whites into the mixture. Gradually pour the water over the mixture, stirring constantly. Return to heat and remove from heat. Mix in sugar, pineapple juice concentrate, egg whites, salt, egg, pineapple juice concentrate and egg yolks. Spread mixture over the pork.

Stir 2 tablespoons butter or margarine into the mixture, and place a plate or platter on the serving platter. Top with bacon slices. Roll up bacon. Serve over ribs.

Wonderful... I added half white sugar for color and fellow pilot suggested using yellow Submarine McFlurry. Seems to work very well.
