Old Time Pizza Recipe

Ingredients

1 pound lean ground beef

1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce

1/2 cup ketchup

1 1/2 cups Italian-style salad dressing

1 small onion, diced

1 cup minced celery

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 clove garlic, minced

1 (16 ounce) can pizza sauce

Directions

In a medium saucepan, heat the beef and tomato sauce. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 20 minutes.

In a large bowl, mix ketchup, Italian-style salad dressing, onion, celery, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic. Pour over beef mixture. Cover and refrigerate overnight or over night.

The next morning, preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

Unwrap garlic cloves, and peel and cut open. Place slices of peel in the center of each garlic onion slice. Place onions and white part of the cloves against the back of a plate; pinch with fork to seal cherry slices.

Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for about 30 minutes. Turn off oven and remove from oven.

Bake uncovered for 10 minutes, or until internal temperature of the meat reaches 145 degrees F (60 degrees C).

Remove meat using a slotted spoon and set aside to cool.

Remove celery leaves from the meat. Cut onion into strips. Peel and cut into 1/2 inch slices.

Stir tomato mixture, egg, tomato paste, black pepper, onion powder, pizza seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, garlic and pepper into a slow cooker or large saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring, until mixture thickens. Simmer for 20 minutes. Remove meat. Stir taco sauce into remaining mixture, stirring thoroughly.

Place meat into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with sauce and salad topping. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes.
