4 1/2 cups butter, softened
1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup white sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 pinch salt
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (220 degrees C).
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, sugars, egg, baking powder and baking soda until smooth. Mix in sugar mixture, stirring just enough to moisten dough. Roll the dough into 1 inch balls and roll in granulated sugar. Place cookies 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven (until light brown). Remove from cookie sheets to cool completely.
