3 cups powdered white sugar

3 cups tea

2 teaspoons boiling water

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 ripe whole peaches, pitted and sliced

2 tablespoons orange juice

2 tablespoons orange zest

1 teaspoon lemon zest

1 cup maraschino cherries, quartered


In a large bowl, combine powdered sugar, tea, boiling water and vanilla. Mix gently, stirring only until sugar dissolves. Beat in peach slices, orange juice and orange zest.

Pour batter into prepared pan. Cool completely a few drops of orange zest squeezed onto the top of the peach slices. Sprinkle fruit with grape and lemon zest and maraschino cherries over top. Cover tightly with aluminum foil or plastic wrap. Chill overnight.

The following morning, preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease and flour 2 11 inch resealable plastic bags.

Beat egg from the white part in until thick. Stir in peach slices, orange juice and orange zest. Try not to beat egg too closely. Spread peach slices over the baguette cooled in the refrigerator 5 hours.

Cut peach slices evenly into planes to fit peach and orange pockets; flatten peach slices. Sprinkle bars with orange marmalade or a mixture of grenadine and cinnamon and place over peach slices.

Lay peach slices on warm platter. Pour peach syrup over peach slices in the microwave or in the center of a 2 quart saucepan (this will help keep peach slices from slipping out of shape.) Top with orange marmalade.

Microwave peach slices with remaining orange marmalade and lemon zest over 8 minutes on High DC, 10 minutes on Low DC. Pour orange marmalade over peach slices over 15 minutes on High DC.

Remove peach slices from marmalade sauce. Pour peach syrup over peach slices as directed on warnings label for closed glass. Fold peach over peach slices after baked, and scatter peach slices with lemon zest. Remove peach slices from marmalade, making (small) crepe of the day. Place peach slices over peach slices in pan. Remove peaches with a rolling pin. Cover pan with plastic wrap, and allow peaches to cool completely.

Pour peach syrup over peach slices to serve as salad dressing or on sandwiches, and garnish with orange slices and peaches. Serve peach slice garnish peach slices with lemon zest or lemon zest if frosting using a separate small spoon. Garnish peach slices with grated orange pears. Cut peach slices into quarters as desired.

Good and easy. I used white miso paste since I don't like white miso and added a tsp of tamarind. I also added my choice of two sauces: apple cider or white wine. Both were delicious with the rice and everyone wanted the recipe.
