Jason's French Toast Recipe

Ingredients

2 eggs

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1/4 cup brown sugar

3 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon salt

3 slices bread, cut into 1/2 inch cubes

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

2 tablespoons butter

1 cup finely chopped onion

1 pound FROSTING:

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 tablespoon butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice

Directions

Heat oil and brown sugar in a saucepan over low heat. Stir in flour and vinegar. Gradually stir in lemon juice, stirring until well blended. Bring to a shallow boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to medium-low.

Place bread cubes in skillet or shallow dish. Pour boiling lemon mixture over bread; cook over medium heat, stirring, until bread is golden brown. Remove bread cubes from skillet. Fluff with fork.

Stir butter into lemon sauce. Reduce heat to medium. Gradually stir flour into butter mixture. Cook, stirring, until heated through. Pour over bread cubes in skillet. Mix in crushed pepper. Serve warm or cold.
