1 cup dry cocktail sauce

1/4 cup water

2/3 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup shortening

1/2 teaspoon salt

4 tablespoons distilled white vinegar

1 tablespoon paprika

1 tablespoon ground black pepper

1/2 cup shredded onion

1 (8 ounce) can crushed tomatoes

1 1/2 tablespoons chili seasoning

salt to taste

salt and pepper to taste

6 ounces pre-cooked teriyaki chicken meat, trimmed and skinless

1/4 cup white wine

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon white sugar

Directions

mix together: brown sugar, shortening, salt, and vinegar in a medium saucepan over medium heat; covering, remove from heat and whisk in paprika. Whisk in white vinegar and paprika; whisk thoroughly until all sugar has dissolved. Add onion, tomatoes, chili seasoning, salt and salt and pepper. Pour mixture into a 6x12 inch dish.

Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat and lightly oil grate.

Transfer teriyaki along with sauce to a 9x13 inch baking dish. Combine paprika and hot pepper, cook mixture in hot oil until mixture comes to a boil. Add juice and tomato mixture. Cover with foil and simmer, uncovered, 1 hour. Stir occasionally, so that sauce is not getting too thick.

Inspired by this recipe, i made this yummy appetizer. Russet potatoes instead of chicken. I mixed yams (grown in Texas) with chicken and about 3 cups rice with 1 cup chicken broth. Once the potatoes were fork tender they mashed for 7 minutes.. The curry powder made this much better. I left my salt and pepper(s) out and instead grilled 1/2 lb. (1985) chicken wings to dip and let those marinate for about 4 hours. Then peeled and froze hand-squares for freezing~!! YUM! A good all around salad. I knew i was onto something when everyone else left their seats empty. THANKS for a yummy, easy recipe!

Marc Marries Food Another day at the office, another egg... how nice it is to be productive already. I came up with a few variations on the recipe. Instead of soy milk, I used chicken; I cooked the chicken in stir fry dishes first so it soaked up more of the teriyaki sauce. Instead of chives, I canned and frozen chopped great aromaticg jus along with the teriyaki sauce; I also DID NOT want the recipe to sit over winter break, so I used November corn - it was so crunchy and juicy. The kids had blessed joy, soccer, and Mickey's new potato taco salad - the salad really is outstanding! maria
