1 3/4 cups whole wheat flour
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 1/24 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
3 cups cake flour
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup butter, melted
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
In a medium bowl, stir together whole wheat flour, butter and brown sugar. Add salt and egg. Stir until dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
Transfer dough to a separate bowl. Divide dough in half and divide between the two bowls. Slice both dough halves into 1/2 inch slices.
Fill each pastry bag with dried cross stitch dough. Wrap the cross stitch around one cookie. Make a small slit in its base, 1/8 inch deep. Place half of the sticky coating over the base of the cookie artwork, 1 inch deep, and sprinkle remaining chocolate over it. Press the dough firmly down to seal. Cool for 1 hour. Cookies will be sticky. When done, carefully remove from the waxed paper covered cookie sheets. Arrange on cooling racks.
