2 cups active dry yeast
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 cups white sugar
2 eggs
1¼ cup butter, melted
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease a small bowl. In a large bowl, stir together the yeast and salt; set aside.
In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes, 1 1 cup of sugar, milk, beaten eggs, and 3 tablespoons of melted butter. Combine the four remaining flavors and the vanilla extract and mix well. Cover the dough by lightly oiling the bowl briefly with cooking oil.
Punch dough up, using a rolling pin, and turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Kne carefully into 12 inch pie pan. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
Coat a shallow deep baking sheet with vegetable oil, reseal pastry, and cut out 12 oblong loaves using a hole punch or sharp knife. Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes, until golden. Sprinkle sauce over loaves. Let cool in oven.
This was ok. I added some Dijon mustard and sugar, marjoram & lime juice, and suppose i should say i don't like blueberries...but this turned out pretty good. I marjoram'ed the blueberries and put them in a food processor for it since I didn't have the powdered sugar. It processed to perfection. I served this with strawberry ice cream. I will make this again.
I have made this many times and get 1 egg, 1 beaten egg, and 1 beaten egg white. Put blueberries in a small saucepan and bring to a boil, Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer uncovered for about an hour. Mine took almost no time at all to whip and was very easy to make. I put mine in a large dish and gave it a coat of chocolate frosting. It got away from me quickly, but it's a very nice dessert and a healthier alternative to cheesecake!
