1 (18.25 ounce) package strawberry flavored Jell-O mix
1 cup boiling water
4 strawberries, sliced
1 (3 ounce) can sliced mushrooms
1 pint strawberry yogurt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (6 ounce) can sliced dates
2 cups sliced almonds
3/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 (16 ounce) can sliced dates and ferris
1 teaspoon lemon zest
In a large bowl, mix boiling water, strawberries and mushrooms. Pour over the boiling water in a slow stream. Stirring constantly, boil for about 15 minutes.
Pour strawberry gelatin into the bottom of a glass or metal bowl. Stir until gelatin dissolves, about 10 minutes.
Combine the strawberries, mushrooms, strawberries yogurt, vanilla extract and dates. Ordered strawberries, sliced almonds and sugar into a large plastic bowl. Mix well. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean, about 40 minutes. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
When cool, frost with lemon zest. Cool completely before frosting cake.
