1/4 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 tablespoons honey
1 1/2 cups chopped almonds
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon almond extract
1 1/2 cups molasses
2 tablespoons almond extract
1 (6 ounce) can sliced almonds
Combine butter, brown sugar and honey. Mix thoroughly. Pour into 8-inch bakers or other 3-in. square pans.
Bake in preheated oven until center of flan springs back when struck, about 20 minutes. Cool, about 10 minutes. Cool completely.
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
Place almonds on baking pans and spread evenly. Let cool completely. Line sheets with waxed paper. Cut parchment paper into 6 slices. Roll flan into 6 discs. Spread them evenly on prepared baking sheets. Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour, or until golden brown and crust is golden. Cool completely. Roll pastry into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased baking sheet. Cover with remaining parchment paper and dust with almond extract before serving. Cool completely before cutting and serving.
