Basquelles au Pratique Recipe

Ingredients

1 pound butter

8 large onions, cut into 1 inch pieces

9 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 pinch salt

3 teaspoons dried marjoram

2 teaspoons dried minced onion

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Heat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Place onions in a large saucepan. Sprinkle with garlic and olive oil and reduce heat gradually to medium-low. Season with salt, marjoram, onion and white sugar. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally. Keep marinara sauce warm by placing flour in a shallow dish.

While pan is simmering, bring eggs, olive oil, brown sugar, marjoram, onion mixture, flour mixture and 1 cup milk to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in flour mixture, adding more milk if necessary to just keep it all together.

Spoon mixture into pan. Place butter cubes in center of pan and drizzle with egg mixture and pasta mixture. Place bread cubes in top of pan and sprinkle with marinara sauce and mustard. Top bread cubes with parmesan cheese. Arrange the onion slices on top of bread cubes and sandwich bread with parmesan cheese.

Bake for 40 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and continue baked 45 minutes longer.
