Bean Burger II Recipe


1 pound lean ground beef

3 medium onions, chopped

4 cups water, divided

2 tablespoons Italian seasoning

salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons chili powder

1 teaspoon dried black pepper

1 tablespoon minced shallots

1 green bell pepper, chopped

1 small yellow onion, chopped

4 sauteed carrots

6 slices Cheddar cheese, sliced in to bite size pieces

2 slices American cheese or lettuce

6 slices American cheese or lettuce

1 pound hamburger

1 pound shredded sharp Cheddar cheese


Place beef in a large, heavy skillet; saute over medium-high heat for 5 minutes, or until no longer pink. Drain excess fat and stir in onion, water, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Add bell pepper, yellow onion, carrots, cheese, American cheese or lettuce and cover.

Bake for 1 hour, or until beef is no longer pink and vegetables tender. Turn heat to medium and stir in hamburger. Cover pot and cook 15 minutes, or until heated through. Serve hot or cold.
