1 (8 ounce) package firm tofu, cut into pieces 1 1/2 inches thick
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons white sugar
3 1/8 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup butter, melted
3 egg yolks, beaten
1 (1 pound) loaf frozen golden round biscuits
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and 3/4 cup brown sugar and set aside. In a large bowl, cream together the egg whites and 1/2 cup butter. Beat in 1/2 the honey and 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon. (Note: Butter may seem like too much for the dough, but it will be that thin when sealed.)
Stir 2 egg yolks into the creamed mixture, then stir in 1 cup the milk and remaining 1/2 cup butter. Stir everything into the flour mixture, adding more milk until all the dough pulls together. Turn dough out onto a large bowl and divide into halves. Arrange one layer in the prepared cookie sheet.
Next, divide the dough into four equal pieces. Press one piece between two sheets wax paper. Cover one portion of dough with wax paper; the other two should be pressed together. Roll dough into 1 inch balls and roll balls into bites sized balls. Brush cakes with melted butter or margarine. Brush or wax the tops and bottoms of the cookies with melted butter. If desired, sprinkle the licorice on top, if desired. Bake for 26 to 34 minutes.
To make the syrup, combine sugar, 1/2 cup melted butter or margarine and 3/4 cup lime juice in a small bowl. Beat until smooth, then stir back into the bowl with 2 more tablespoons melted butter or margarine. In small batches, stir in flour, baking powder, and brown sugar. Stir to coat. Take one cookie at a time, roll approximately 1/2 inch, then cut into bite-size.
We have had this product for over 25 years and it is good for both salads and sandwiches. I have added a clove of diced garlic and 1 clove of diced white onion. I skip the cream and instead went with white sugar and SunnyDrain. I found that my husband didn't like it because he doesn't like sugar so I simply decreased the sugar to ½ cup and he said it was the same effect he had. I didn't add any salt so I ordered French vanilla Danish gravy which he said was quite good. However, I did cut back on both the sugar and the cream to single digits. In retrospect, I should have waited until the sugar reached 320 before adding the cream cheese. My husband loved it and cried wolf about his gran
