French Toast Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients

2 tablespoons butter, softened

4 cups milk

1 small onion, finely diced

1 clove garlic, minced

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon crushed red wine

8 slices bread, sliced

1 cup diced celery

1 (8 ounce) can sliced mushrooms

Directions

Heat butter in a large, heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Add milk and onion and saute for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Season with garlic, salt, and wine. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring constantly. Serve warm or cold.

Heat bread slices in microwave on high and microwave for 2 to 2 1/2 minutes, or until lightly browned. Remove bread slices from microwave and place into warm water. Stir in cheese, mushrooms, celery, celery mixture, and marinade. Serve immediately.
