2 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup milk
1 egg
1 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon lemon extract
1 teaspoon lemon extract
1/4 teaspoon lemon zest
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
In a large saucepan, combine sugar, butter and flour. Cut in the milk with a metal spatula and stir to mix. Stir in egg, water, vanilla, lemon, lemon peel, lemon extract and lemon zest.
Pour mixture into a 9x13 inch baking pan. Place over low heat and sprinkle top of each loaf with lemon peel. Cut off glaze layer and sprinkle frosting on top.
Bake at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for 45 to 50 minutes.
Cool completely in uprighters in refrigerator.
