Stale Orleans Recipe

Ingredients

4 eggs

1 1/2 cups white sugar

2 teaspoons baking soda

3 cups milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/8 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

1/8 teaspoon cinnamon

3 tablespoons margarine, melted

2 teaspoons butter

1 1/2 cups water

Directions

Combine eggs, sugar and baking soda; pour over eggs and sugar mixture. Beat on low speed until blended. Stir in milk, vanilla, salt and pepper. Satisfy with a stiff brush or spatula. Continue beating until mixture is moist and thick.

Gradually beat butter or margarine into egg mixture. Fold in water and vanilla. Mix the margarine gently into egg mixture but not in the center. Pour batter into prepared pan.

Bake in preheated oven for 60 to 70 minutes or until golden. Cool slightly before removing from pan. Cool completely before removing from pan.
