Stonehaven Sandwiches Recipe

Ingredients

2 quarts water

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 pound butter, melted

3 tablespoons distilled white vinegar

1 tablespoon white vinegar

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons butter, softened

1/4 cup white sugar

2 tablespoons lemon juice

Directions

Place water in a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in granulated sugar. Stir vigorously until sugar is dissolved, approximately 1 minute.

Microwave butter in medium saucepan over medium heat; remove from heat. Add vinegar and lemon juice and set aside.

Transfer flour through a sieve into a large bowl. Beat vigorously until well mixed. Stir in sugar, lemon juice and lemon slices. Spread in one-4 ounce portion of a large casserole dish.

Bake 50 minutes in preheated oven; reduce heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Bake at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for 50 minutes. Remove pan from oven. Remove sandwich from oven and crumble. Place upon cold baking sheets to cool. Place another large baking sheet on top of reserved pan. Bake sandwiches for about 30 minutes in the preheated oven.

This was ok. I may make it again but would use fresh minced garlic instead of the powder and decrease the sugar.
