1 1/2 tablespoons flat sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 1/2 cups boiling water
3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups fresh bread crumbs
1 teaspoon active dry yeast
Place the sugar, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg in 4 small glasses; let stand a few minutes.
Place boiling water in a small saucepan. Add the apple cider vinegar, butter, vanilla, bread crumbs and yeast and stir. Mix together until all ingredients are well blended.
When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth. Shape into 1/2 inch rounds and place on a waste baking sheet. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise until doubled in volume, about 1 hour. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
Bake in preheated oven until golden brown, about 10 to 15 minutes depending on the size of the bird.
This is godawful! My husband loved this cake. After reading the recipe he made the recipe exactly. This is so versatile and can be made ANYTIME! I often swap honey for vanilla and cream cheese for whatever reason and Tavese is definitely not it!
