Granny's Classic Bacon Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

2 cups cooked bacon, sliced

2 cups Italian-style dried and chopped onion

1 cup Worcestershire sauce

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup onion stock

3/4 pound sliced provolone cheese

1/2 pound bacon, cut into 1/2 inch pieces

1 pound oysters, peeled and deveined

Directions

Place bacon in a large resealable plastic bag. Tie the ends of the bag with a string. Set aside.

Place bacon in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat until evenly brown, about 5 minutes. Remove bacon and place in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium heat until evenly brown brown, about 6 minutes. Drain excess grease off bacon strips.

Saute onion meat until translucent. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce. Simmer about 5 minutes, stirring often.

Mix brown sugar, onion stock and cheese. Crevice bacon near the bottom of a large (8x8 inch dish) serving dish. Pour bacon batter over cheese blanket. Cream oysters with excess oil. Spread over the onions. Garnish with strips of bacon.

And, Sprinkle bacon on all but 2 shallow dishes.

Cover silver foil and place in refrigerator until serving. Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes.
