Stuffed Grape Leaves Recipe

Ingredients

1/4 cup shortening

7 small yellow-colored grapes

1 (1 ounce) package world's greatest fruit cocktail mix

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup butter, melted

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8x4 inch glass dish. Sift together the flour and white sugar. Set aside.

In a medium bowl, stir together the hot shortening and sugar. Add wine, egg yolk mixture, egg whites and mashed bananas. Sift in the flour mixture. Fold into the wet ingredients until well blended. Pour into prepared pan.

Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.

To serve, remove from oven and place dinner in a lightly greased shallow saucepan on a plate. Ladle spoons of hot soup into bowl, then spoon hot soup down spoon bottom of the dish.

Quick and easy preparation. A nice subtle lemon flavor. I used olive oil instead of shortening and added a dash of cinnimon. I wish I had let it rise longer to let the flavors continue to develop.
