Schwarzwalde Recipe

Ingredients

1 (2 pound) loaf white bread, cut into thin slices

2 eggs, beaten

1 1/2 cups vegetable oil

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 cup shredded Swiss cheese

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Place bread slices in 9x13 inch pan. Spread egg mixture over slices.

Heat oil in 10-inch skillet over medium heat. Stir together flour, baking powder, salt, oregano, Swiss cheese and pepper-sprinkled ham. Pour over bread.

Bake 20 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden brown. Cool completely and serve warm or at room temperature.

This recipe is Awesome It was soooo easy!!!!! I made like a whip...I added a lil less than a cup of water but still got way too sticky. Don't make it.1/2 t. of vanilla to begin.. I added 1/2 t. of orange zest to balance out the acidity of the dressing. I also sprinkled another pinch of dry minced garlic onto top before hiding away in the fridge. So Good, casual, and super easy. Thanks a ton
