1 cup chopped almonds
7 tablespoons cinnamon syrup
8 (1 ounce) squares white cake mix
1 cup boiling water
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons red food coloring
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Using a 2 ounce glass or metal mixing bowl, combine almonds, powdered sugar, and 2 tablespoons cinnamon syrup. Slowly pour the boiling water into the glass bowl, stirring just until moistened. Pour over almonds and syrup from the boiling water and mix into the cake/flour mixture. Pour lemon juice over the fresh fruit and sprinkle with red food coloring to cover. Arrange the pieces in a single layer on a large baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.
