6 bacon strips
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 pounds pork loin roast
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 medium carrot, sliced
2 stalks celery, peeled and diced
1 (14.5 ounce) can tomato paste
1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle beer
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 (1 ounce) chocolate syrup
3 tablespoons margarine
1 pinch salt
1 clove garlic, peeled and minced
1 teaspoon dried marjoram
1 teaspoon dried basil
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place bacon strips in pan and cook until crisp; drain.
Place onion and carrot in large skillet over medium heat. Boil and stir 1 1 minute. Add celery and tomato paste, add beer, brown sugar, chocolate syrup, margarine, marjoram, basil, Parmesan cheese and garlic. Cook 2 minutes more, stirring well.
