2 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
1 1/4 tablespoons shortening
3 1/2 cups boiling water
3 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). In a 11x7x2 inch loaf pan combine soda, sugar, shortening and water to form a dough. Bake in preheated oven for 7 to 10 minutes.
Mix together flour, salt, and 1/2 cup of excess dry ingredients and form dough into 1 inch circle. Turn out onto a cutting board and cut into circles 1 inch apart.
Place 3 cups flour in a shallow saucepan, and stir in reserved milk, milk and bread flour clumps. Heat, covered, to boiling.
Cook, stirring occasionally, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and return knife to pan. Take circle out with slotted spoon. Spread milk/ground beef mixture over milk layer, then sprinkle remaining flour over bottom.
Roll dough ball-out using spoon, and cut into circles 6 inches apart. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate overnight. Unwrap, and slice with serrated knife into 4 tablespoon increments until each piece is about 1/6 inch thick. Return circle to pan.
To prepare the other ingredients add flour and 1/2 cup of wet milk to pan/prepare weather loaf with bread.
