3/4 cup butter, divided
1 pound lean ground beef
1 (16 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 (8 ounce) can tomato paste
2 (16 ounce) cans tomato paste with juice
1 teaspoon dried basil
2 teaspoons dried oregano
salt and pepper to taste
1 (8 ounce) can Italian-style dry bread crumbs
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a medium-size mixing bowl, cream butter and salt together. Mix in the flour, stirring well after each addition. Put 1 tablespoon of the meat mixture into each tablespoon of the dough.
On a floured surface, roll each meat mixture out into a 1/4 inch thick. Cut each piece in half, and place in the prepared baking dish. Roll the meat mixture out and place in the baking dish. Cover with a plastic bag, and refrigerate for one hour at room temperature.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for approximately 35 minutes.
