1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
3 eggs
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 cup chopped pecans
In a saucepan or stockpot over medium heat, mix butter, sugar, eggs, 1/3 cup water and oil. Bring just to a boil, then remove from heat and stir in flour; salt, oregano and pecans.
Carve thick bread cubes (bread trophies) off and place them into the hot butter mixture. Others can be used, but they will form a soggy mass. Place on the prepared cookie sheet.
Bake for 15 in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until a knife inserted into the cake comes out clean. Remove from the oven, let cool then frost with a veneer of powdered sugar.
