1/4 cup butter, softened
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons white sugar
1 cup finely chopped walnuts
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup water
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a medium bowl, cream together sugar, butter and flour until smooth. Beat in the walnuts and salt, then mix in the sugar and oil.
Transfer the dough to 8 inch square baking pans and spread the mixture evenly.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 25 minutes, or until very lightly browned. Remove from pans to cool on wire racks. Store in an airtight container.
