French Toast Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup white sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 eggs, beaten

1 cup milk

1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

2 slices fresh bread, torn into small pieces

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup butter

1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms

1/2 cup sliced tomatoes

1/2 cup sliced mushrooms

1/2 cup sliced green bell pepper

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

To Make Crust: In a medium bowl, mix flour, sugar, vanilla extract, baking soda, and nutmeg. Mix well. Place eggs into a large saucepan and heat over medium-low heat. Beat steadily, stirring constantly, until eggs are set. Slowly pour milk and cream cheese into eggs, whisking constantly. Remove from heat and stir in cheese.

To Make Filling: In a medium bowl, mix cream cheese, butter, sliced mushrooms, tomatoes, sliced mushrooms, tomatoes, green peppers, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper.

Place (2) slices bread onto each slice of pie. Top each slice with a layer of cream cheese, cheese mixture, remoulade cheese sauce, mushrooms, tomatoes, mushrooms and green peppers.

Bake in preheated oven 10 to 15 minutes, until lightly browned. Serve immediately.
