2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup butter or margarine

1 cup chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

In a medium bowl, cream together margarine, baking powder, whole milk, eggs, oil, and vanilla until smooth. Beat in the margarine mixture until all ingredients are thoroughly combined. Stir in chocolate and pecans. Drop cookies by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, adjusting the temperature to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C) if necessary to keep cookies from sticking together. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
