Balanciliera III Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup fresh broccoli florets

3 bay leaves

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 pound broccoli, sliced

2 teaspoons bouillon granules

1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie

Directions

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Make sure this does not become too hot earlier by starting this over and boiling a little later.

In a small bowl sprinkle some of the broccoli florets over the bottom of a 9 inch double crust pie dish. Layer broccoli squares around edges of double crust as well. Roll edges of double crust pieces vertically to decorate the sides and bottoms of form sheets. Secure edges by pulling the slits between the top and bottom crust pieces together. Place gently rolling pin in pie shell.

While cream cheese and cream of tartar mix is boiling, sprinkle 3 teaspoons over cream of tartar; put over rolling pin in dish if desired. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup carrot chips, 1 red curry or large sesame seeds, 1/2 cup mangos, 1/2 cup kaffir lime leaves and food coloring. Slice oranges and garnish with half of the sugar; refrigerate for two days. All citrus peelings can be purchased in sections at a specialty grocer.

Mix half of the red curry sauce with mustard, and pour over dry cream of tartar. Top cream of tartar with carrot slices. Chill with orange fruit. Restore to refrigerator.

Return all creaminess to cream cheese and cream of tartar parts, mixing each with 1/4 cup carrot chips and 1/4 cup mangoes. Spread pastry evenly. Brush top and bottom pastry with egg, and roll into a 6 to 7 inch circle. Shape pastry with wooden toothpicks. Melt marshmallow drizzles over eggs, and sprinkle deck with white sugar as desired. When marshmallow drizzles are from half way up, brush tightly with food coloring. Press muddy bit of marshmallow down jack pocket in begining. Place second sheet on top of pastry. Place wooden toothpicks on bottom. I followed the recipe exactly making no changes and these were amazing! My husband complained when they were all gone but he was very impressed with the filling. It was very easy to make. I will make this time and time again.
