2 cups milk
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup shortening
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a medium bowl blend together milk, egg and vanilla extract. Combine the flour, baking powder and cinnamon and add to the milk mixture. Mix well then stir in the buttermilk, shortening and vanilla.
Drop batter by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking pan, and let the cake set 5 minutes. Cool on wire rack. Frost with more of the cinnamon/buttermilk mixture on top, and sprinkle with more of the cinnamon/buttermilk mixture on top. Let cake set for at least 20 minutes before serving.
