1 (9 inch) prepared graham cracker crust.
2 (3 ounce) packages chocolate flavored Jell-O
1 (8 ounce) container boiling water
2 cups boiling milk
1/2 cup white sugar
1 pinch salt
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (9 inch) pie shell
1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 cup chopped pecans
2 eggs
1 (15 ounce) can evaporated milk
1 (3.5 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
1/2 cup butter, melted
4 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Place chocolate flavored gelatin in a medium bowl. Stir in boiling water, but do not allow to boil. Stirring constantly, gradually pour into small container, stirring constantly.
While the chocolate flavored gelatin is simmering, in a medium mixing bowl, whisk together boiling milk and sugar until smooth. Stirring constantly, stir in milk, sugar, salt, vanilla and pie shell. When the mixture is smooth, slowly pour over pie crust.
When the custard mixture is hot, stir in whipped topping, pecans, eggs, evaporated milk, pudding mix and butter. Mix thoroughly after each addition.
When the mixture is hot, mix chocolate pudding mix and butter mixture well, then stir in brown sugar, stirring until well blended. Spread evenly over pie. Garnish with chopped pecans.
Cook slowly, stirring gradually, until custard mixture is thick. Remove from heat and pour over pie.
