12 apples
2 lemons, cut in half
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup white sugar
4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoon grated lemon peel
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup milk
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons milk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Place saplings in a large baking pan. Rub 1/2 teaspoon of the olive oil over the apples, cutting with a large, sharp knife. Place other 1/2 teaspoon oil over the apples, cutting with a large knife.
In a small bowl, mix the sugar, flour, salt, and lemon peel. Add the milk, egg, and vanilla extract; pour over the apples. Place the saplings in the pan and top with the milk/egg mixture. Pour the milk/egg mixture over the apples. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour.
