3/4 cup butter
1/3 cup olive oil
1/8 cup chopped green onions
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 (18 ounce) can pizza sauce
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 pound mushrooms, sliced
1 (1 ounce) package unsalted butter flavored brown butter, chilled and diced
1 (8 ounce) package shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 pound prosciutto or other Italian sausage
1 egg
1 1/2 cups water
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
In a medium bowl, blend the butter, olive oil, green onions, basil, pizza sauce, parsley, salt, pepper and onion. Mix thoroughly, and shape into 1 inch balls. Place them in a quarter cup; wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate overnight.
The next morning, in a small mixing bowl, combine the mozzarella cheese, sausage, egg, water, sugar, Italian seasoning and sliced mushrooms. Mix thoroughly and shape into 4 balls. Place them in a 2 quart baking dish. Cover dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
The next morning, preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Bake 5 to 7 minutes in the preheated oven, until crisp and cooked through. Remove from baking dish (do not remove plastic wrap) and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
